Maintenance for your Pocket Bike
Perform the following tasks on your pocket bike regularly to ensure long life and safe driving.
Inspect the spark
You should remove and visually inspect your spark plug regularly. You'll find it at the top of the engine below a protective boot. It should not be white or black, but a golden brown or light brown. A white candle indicates the engine temperature is too high. Its mix of fuel can be very poor and may need adjusting.or you may need to adjust the mix of fuel and oil. Too rich a fuel mixture will cover your spark in the fuel without burning it to look black. A black color also produces carbon or oil and is an indication that the plug needs changing. Clean the plug will keep you temporarily occupied, but to ensure that change as soon as possible. The ideal is to keep spare plugs in your tool box so they can be changed when necessary.
Clean the air filter
The air filter collects dust, and other materials and prevents them from entering the engine where they can cause damage to the piston and gave birth. Should be cleaned and a small amount of oil added to trap the debris. A dirty filter can adversely affect performance and shorten its life cycle. Remove filter, check for any damage and clean with a cleaning solution approved. In an emergency soap water can be used in place but be careful to rinse well all the soap. Add a few drops of oil filter. No arrears of oil, if the juice filter that have been added too!
Idle adjustment screw
with strangulation is a small screw adjusts the idle speed. To increase the idle speed clockwise turn, to reduce turn to left until the speed is set correctly. Be careful not to set it too high as this could be dangerous and only burn more fuel.
Chain Oil
Regularly oil the chain, both inside and outside an approved chain oil. Oil at least every time you use the bike. Check the chain is not too tight or too loose. too tight a chain will lead to excessive wear, a string can come loose and cause an accident. To check tightness of the chain to keep it halfway between the front and rear sprockets and move in an up / down. If more than 20 mm of movement of the chain is too loose. Under 20 mm of movement indicates a very tight chain. tighten or loosen the string until the movement is correct.
Inspect and adjust brakes
A few bikes with hydraulic brakes but the majority are equipped with disc brakes which are easy to maintain. remove the brake equipment on a regular schedule and inspect Visually wear and scratches. Change the pads before they become too thin. Check the cable and cable jacket and trim levers and replace barrels too worn parts. You can adjust the brakes if necessary, by loosening the lock nut and tighten or loosen the lock nut. Leave some slack in the cable as the cable too tight will rise to friction and wear. ensure that the wheels lock properly after they have completed their adjustment, then retighten the locknut.
Lubricate
We can not emphasize enough that regular lubrication with a good quality oil is essential to maintain your bike is in tip-top. The manual will show the point of lubrication. More lubricant is likely to be a problem, but by virtue of lubricants will cause all types of damage to your bike which of course affect the performance and life.
Check the tires
Check your tires regularly for damage, bulging and wear and replace before they cause problems while driving.
A pocket bike must be able to give you years of fun, easy to maintain, if we consider to a regular maintenance program. Never ride your bike unless you are sure you have made the above often enough and your bike is in the best conditions can be done.
