New York to launch bike-sharing Share project

Having a BMW Z3 definitely has its benefits, go to and from another place is easier and style. Of course there are keeping their cars and BMW Z3 parts to take care of, but it comes with possession of any car and you are more than willing to do so if that means going to travel in comfort and ease.

But with the price of gasoline rise, have you ever thought of using an alternative mode of transportation?

How about using a bicycle? A public bicycle that is - that with a cell phone call or swipe a card, you can unlock your bike and ride support across the city. And once you reach your destination, all you have to do is direct to the nearest bike rack and, with one more call or swipe the card, return the bike to the public. All this at a cost of less than $ 0.50 for the trip.

"Bike-sharing" systems like this are already in active use in cities across Europe, with Paris alone currently installing over 10,000 bikes at 750 stations. Not only help you make bike sharing a greener city, more so that is revolutionizing transportation networks.

And now New York wants to give this system a test with the New York Bike-Share Project.

According to the project website, The New York Bike-Share Project consists of three parts: one, The Experiment: Twenty bicycles are available for free rental store 30 minutes between Art and Architecture (97 Kenmare Street) and traveling the remote location.

Two of the Exhibition: A review of eight successful bike-sharing programs in European cities will be on view at Storefront.

Three, the Charette: The Forum for Urban Design will facilitate a public imagining a future bike-share program in New York. Design and transportation experts will make presentations public from 09 July to 10 at 6pm. The final results will be published in nybikeshare.org Charette and presented to the public on July 11 at 6pm.

The NY Share Bicycle project is produced by The Forum for Urban Design and Architecture and Art Shop.
