Travel and bicycles. . . The diets? Changing Habits and Overcoming Obstacles to a Better Life

My husband Kevin and I just returned from our trip bicycle fourth year. Start said bike trip our home and touring the Midwest, returning a week later.

To answer frequently asked questions about our bike trip: We stay in motels. Kevin pulls a small trailer. We average 500 miles per trip by bike and 70 miles per day (although he traveled 116 miles on a glorious day, dragged down by the wind!). First, we ride on the roads along our bike trips, looking with wide shoulders and little traffic.

Is it difficult?

Well, yes.

So why?

Due to a motorcycle trip is almost a holiday free decision, it is very stress free. We simply decide which direction we go in the morning, then we get on our bikes and trying to ride-our best to coordinate our exhaustion or collapse with the availability of a motel room.

Our bike trips me out of the decision-making mode and a place of simple observation and reflection, which allows me to tune in to the hundreds of variations of green. I begin to change the habits of my hectic life almost immediately, "I realize each smell. The clouds are unique. The houses and garden waste anthropological question. All that reminds me how wonderful habits can change be.

The biggest hurdle in any bike ride is actually the day of departure. This is the time to change the habits of my regular, non moto journey of life is the most difficult.

I wake up at 6:30 am moaning, take some Advil, and check the wind direction. (Speaking of change habits!) As some fruits or nuts, and forced to bicycle. I'm sorry for myself, especially for the part of me that meets the seat. I tell Kevin that today probably not be able to go as far. Nobody is doing this, right?)

Should I stop worrying about how hard it "could" be or how difficult it "will." This allows me to start adjusting to what it really is. I call this change of habits for the better.

When they 10 miles, I realize I have ridden half the distance he wanted to meet before my breakfast in the morning. Only another 10 miles and without blame can stop me for what presents itself. That could be a cup of coffee and pancakes, or it could be a granola bar, juice and a donut while I read the newspaper under a shade tree. This is changing the habits of even better, I rarely have the time to think out of my bike trip.

I begin to appreciate the blue cornflower (change of habits for the better!), and I spend one minutes petting a memory of youth gathering lilies for my mother. My thought is derived from their health and appreciating this before in my life I can have a field of wheat, and they wonder why so many fewer than there used to be, I'm not the only thing to change habits, it seems.

As I keep my thoughts, I passed a barrier. My breath is balanced, and I note with appreciation the sun on my face.

One the morning on our recent trip bicycle, as I was overcoming the habit of changing barrier 10 miles, I suddenly realized I was really enjoying the rain which had almost prevented me from leaving the hotel room the morning. All other factors in my favor: it was warm, and I was traveling on a quiet road flat, shoulders, with the wind at my back. I thought about how few times in my adult life I had in the rain. I realized that the rain felt good on my skin. Me noticed my change in habits, and was grateful for them.

I was also grateful that the rain was soft and my visor was keeping my clear lenses. Our bike trip was good. Life was good.

Maybe you're on a bicycle trek "journey of his own. Such Once you are in a figurative sense as you wake up moaning to assess how difficult changing the habits can be.

You need to honestly evaluate all factors and realize that not everything is against you. It is necessary to drive eight miles and change the habit largest of its all-attitude.
