What is a carbon coach?
In July 2005 I left a job almost perfect, director of a successful consultancy (ABS Consulting) for building companies such as carbon coach. My mission (and you may mission!) is the trainer of celebrities and influential people: to help them prosper and feel good by reducing their carbon footprint lifestyle real (the tonnage of carbon dioxide emissions that their households travel and energy is responsible.) hand as I have a change (energy efficient) light bulb!
How work?
My goal is to rapidly increase peoples awareness of their direct carbon impacts on the environment. The coach wants me active people to change, but are busy and do not know where to start. I usually arrange to meet them at home, and quickly assess your carbon footprint bills energy, travel data - a few simple questions. Then I will discuss with them ways in which they have considered that the reduction - in this initial stage of things broadly.
Who is using carbon coach?
There are plenty of CEOs, business leaders, politicians, famous, even neighbors who want to know your carbon footprint - its tonnage. I also give this advice to carbon as a business, and their employees.
When people undertake to make a difference in your lifestyle at home, and experience the joy of shedding a ton or two, first hand, will positively influence their corporate situation ..
How large a carbon footprint must be someone?
Wherever you start is not bad. After all, the majority of us we live in ignorance of the number. The average carbon footprint from top to bottom for each of us in the UK is approximately 11 tons per year. (Total United Kingdom tonnes divided by the population.), 50% footprint that will focus on home energy and travel home. This averages a little about 5 tons per person. The lifestyle of a captain of industry, however, is such that a mark as high as 60 tons is quite common.
The results can be simple, such as a change of car or switch to a green electricity tariff to ensure the electricity comes from renewable sources or can be a bit more complicated. But the changes reach happen. Part of what I bring is the urgency and tenacity. The problem (climate change) isn't going to go away - why should I!
Have you changed your lifestyle?
Yes, but compared to some I am a late developer. I didn't take my personal impact on the environment anywhere near enough seriously until about five years ago. Now my five-bedroom house in Marlow has a solar (thermal and photovoltaic, fully autonomous mode), a light-pipe, super insulation, ventilation MVHR whole house, a passive solar greenhouse and a wood stove. My family of six has a combined carbon footprint of 9 tons - including our two cars and all vacation travel. 1.5 tons each.
Carbon Coaching is a great opportunity. Essentially, in 2050 every citizen of the United Kingdom must have weight loss of 5 tons per year to around 0.5 tonnes - or were stuffed. Thus we have a lot of coaches and a lot of coaching. And the best way to learn is to practice on yourself!
