"What you think you know that it might be wrong? Djerba - a tale of two horses
The horse's name was Prince. Despite its name Arab could have been Ibn Saud or the Khazar. For foreigners whose name was Prince. The child's name was Marajuan. Marajuan was a native of 20 years who knew three things in English: Did high-five, he knew the gesture of thumbs up, and he knew that writing in the sand, both the time of day we met for my daily walk and price. Time in a watch or a clock are the same in all languages. One of us write "1" or "11" in the sand and time of day was the same for both. Regardless of the fact that we could speak very little, we could communicate very well. These three gestures were sufficient to doing business on the beach of Djerba, with people who speak any language.
My business, communications, electric power, is named after a big horse, white Arabian. (You can see his picture and read about presentation skills in the show ring in http://electricimpulse.com/who-we-are/name.php ) I showed Arabs for more than two decades in Class A shows throughout the United States and Canada.
I thought I knew about everything related with Arabs. I was wrong.
Does it surprise you that the Boston Celtics beat the Lakers and Kobe Bryant much vaunted? What know what you think about your business or in the world that can only be wrong?
This article is dedicated to all things think we know-and can only be wrong.
He knew that many horses that were imported from Poland and many Arab countries to compete in the U.S. I thought I knew about these horses, I was wrong.
In the states, the Arabs have a reputation for being frivolous. Much I defended against this criticism is generally accurate. Or so I thought. Thirty years of riding Arabia, and have been around thousands of horses in competitions I know that this frivolity is only part of their genetic makeup. I was wrong.
In Djerba, the Arabian horse is so common as the family dog in America. Here we see a dog tied to a doghouse or a tree. In Djerba, Arabic family was tied to a palm tree in the front of your home, cabin or tent. In the U.S., we treat our horses are like prima donna and act like him! The site of an Arab tied to a tree at first surprised me. . . then became normal.
Every day would bring Prince Marajuan or Shakira, or male, to beach in front of my hotel. At first glance did not look like my show horses. They were thinner, although not too fine. They were primped, polished, or perfected. But they were healthy, sound, and obviously well cared for. I thought I knew what an Arab should look like. I was wrong. In their natural state in their environment were more seductive natural version of exhibition horse tense.
Each did not have the latest or the cleanest of the team. But the team was adequate and comfortable. I knew that was new was the best. I was wrong.
His ears were not adjusted, not too close to "demonstration" ready. With hairy ears would be much less annoying flies. I thought I knew. I was wrong.
How sweet gentle soul. Motorcycles water, windsurfing, helicopter buzzing three meters above our heads, and never a frivolous way. This is an example of an animal in their own environment, being used in its highest and best use.
In a horse show the hard work to make it look easy. This was easy.
In a horse show, working hard to make it look like fun. This was fun.
In a horse show the hard work to make your horse look like a smooth ride.
This was a smooth ride. We rode for miles in the sea lapping Prince or Shakira, or the hulls of Chico.
We rode on the sand dunes and tried to escape groups of marauding bandits. These horses were not the prettiest, but each one was the horse I've ridden more real. Each one was what is supposed to be, and that was great.
My horse show electrical impulse had been cut, sand, washed, identified, trained, and pray. It had become claustrophobic. Much as I wanted, and still love 17 years after his death, one thing that was not: the only true that their ancestors were born to be.
A tale of two horses is really the story of each one of us.
What do you think you know about yourself that not true?
What is something you think in your business that is not true?
What is something about your competition that is not true?
This Arabian tale, the story of two Djerba future and all of us.
Do we want to be primped, polished and perfected?
Or do we want authentic?
The story of Djerba, horses, hotel, street vendors, the souk, and all its cafes male, test can not be both.
What do you think you know that not true?
