Position the vehicle to a stop requires more than stepping the brake pedal. It is a collective function of car components known as the braking system. The hydraulic pressure is used to activate the brake assemblies that slow or stop your car. Basically, your Pontiac brake pad is the brunt of the frictional force needed to slow or stop your car. It serves the primary function of activating the hydraulic line. Originally, this braking system component is made from organic ingredients, where carbon and asbestos were used. A strong resin keeps them together to reach a brake pad. However, the use of asbestos was banned by the U.S. government because asbestos was found to contain substances that can be harmful to the respiratory system of humans. Kevlar was used as a replacement for asbestos, the same material used to manufacture jackets armor. Modern brake pads are now considered semi-metallic using brass, copper, and steel wool shavings as main ingredients together with a resin. The only drawback is that they have a higher incidence of grinding noises. The metal shavings normally rub against steel rotors every time you apply the brakes, so this is largely unavoidable.
Your Pontiac vehicle is generally equipped with two brake pads per disc rotor. Remain in place and are powered by a clamp affixed to the suspension or wheel hub. Depending on the intended use of your vehicle, you can choose between different types of brake pads, from very soft and aggressive, the harder and more durable. They can be different types, each Pontiac brake pad is composed of two main parts: the actual friction material and reinforcing steel. The kinetic energy is converted into heat energy by the friction material present in your brake pad. Because of friction, heat has been transferred to the discs and pads are distributed to the surrounding air. Moreover, the steel backing serve the function of serving as a friction material support. As worn, the brake pad will alert Pontiac with a squeak. This happens because it has incorporated special wedges. When we have been hearing the noise, do not delay its replacement by a new one if you want to keep helping their braking efficiency.
