Radon comes from the natural (radioactive) breakdown of uranium in soil, rocks and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon can found throughout the U.S. You can get in any kind of building-homes, offices and schools, and may rise to high levels inside if you are trapped.
For most Americans, the greatest exposure to radon in their homes if these homes are old or new. Any house, any kind, anywhere can have a radon problem. All homes should be tested unless the building is a skyscraper above the third floor. If your home has not been tested, now is a good time to take the test. This will help protect the health of your family and is easy to do.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends homes be fixed if the radon level is 4 picocuries per liter of air (4 pCi / L) or higher. Although the test can be easy and inexpensive, millions of Americans still must have their first test radon home to protect his family.
You can test your home yourself or hire a professional. Reliable testing devices are available by phone or by mail and can be purchased at hardware stores and home improvement.
Fixing a radon problem is also very easy and has no to be expensive. Radon reduction systems can lower radon to an acceptable level. Even very high levels can be reduced to a safer level.
"No is costly to build a new home with radon-resistant features. A better house at a time greeen for the planet and healthier for your family, " Fuad said Reveiz, a member of National Association of Home Builders.
