Satellite TV - Remember when there was no cable TV?
I grew up in a small town in a largely rural state, which means a large amount of television we received was from another city, and only if we put an aerial. I remember a local TV station, one from a town about an hour away, and three of a great city to three hours. That was it. That was all our channel lineup. Our television channels were thirteen, which was more than enough. It also had large tubes large in the back and weighed about a ton.
This, of course, takes me back to the late 60s and 70s but this was the state of television for most viewers at the time. Local and regional channels were the norm, especially in smaller towns and more rural areas. Not until the late 70 something amazing and miraculous happened in our house.
Group W was when cable came to town, and nothing will be the same. Suddenly we had places channels honest I had only heard of, and had never visited. We had WGN in Chicago, which was cool, it showed the Chicago Cubs baseball games. It also has Super Station, WTBS in Atlanta. This was, in my young age, possibly the best channel ever invented.
TBS had control Free professional, NASCAR, movies and series throughout the day. I can not count the number of Saturdays I spent glued to WWF Wrestling and boys watched as Tony Atlas, André the Giant, Arn and Ole Anderson, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, and many others. Premium TV was the most amazing invention ever, especially when you're 14 and bored to tears.
I will never forget the day MTV went on the list of channels in my house. Although not the first video ever aired, "Bohemian Rhapsody "by Queen was the first music video I've seen in my life and I think I went into a trance while I sat looking at her, not knowing what to say or do, or even how to act. I remember calling all my friends - Have you heard the news? - Of course they had. Each had. It is possible that every house in my town was tuned on MTV that day, and for many days thereafter.
Home Premium TV has come a long way in the last four decades. MTV has not played a music video and I do not know when, and TBS USA let take over professional wrestling. But the change has been for the better. Now receives more than 300 channels directly to our HDTV - the kind without the large pipes in the back, do not weigh a ton - from a satellite orbiting the earth.
Prima TV today includes uncut movie channels that show Hollywood movies, the channels for women, waterways, outdoor activities for people, the channels for golfers, cooks, and buyers. It even includes channels commercial-free satellite radio from Sirius Satellite Radio, in case you need some tunes quick dinner, dancing or pool party.
No matter what anyone tries to tell you about the good old days of television, can not be compared with what is available today. As far as I'm concerned, these are the old days, very golden years of television. Direct TV shows to the best of these golden years have to offer. Get a large number of DIRECTV packages today!
