Common types of lock
cylinder locks - Cylinder locks are perhaps the best known of the three main mechanical locking systems, with the most common of these is the cylinder lock ring. These are commonly found in the front doors and are often referred to as blocking Yale (though this is really name of a particular manufacturer, even though the term has been adopted Hoover to describe all vacuum cleaners).
