Mountain bikers do not have to look far to find a lot of great riding throughout the city and its surroundings. The Greenbelt, which flows right through the center of south-central Austin, has an extensive route network in all grades of difficulty, from highly technical, professional-grade trails to simple dirt roads, ideal for leisure travel at night, or even a nice hike. On the north side City, Walnut Creek Park is another excellent option for mountain bikers of all levels. Miles and miles of wooded trails weave their way through the park with a variety of routes and levels of ability.

Less than an hour outside Austin, you'll find Muleshoe State Park, rider paradise mountain is another. Muleshoe is home to a beautiful seven-mile loop of rocky climbs, narrow zigzag and steep descents. The shaded landscape is visually stunning, with deer jumping through the trees and edges of cliffs along the trails. Another option outside the city by bike is Milton Reimer Ranch County Park. Although less shade that Muleshoe park, Reimer offered as much technicality, with miles of single track, treacherous rock gardens, and beautiful views of Texas savannah.

Independently their level of experience, time allocation or desired degree of difficulty, of Austin, Texas, and its surroundings offer plenty of options when it comes to cycling. It is not Small wonder, then, that Austin is home to one of the communities in the nation's largest bicycle and active.
