Tips on replacing brake pads

Brake pads naturally wear out over time. Fortunately, it is not difficult to replace as you may think. The tools you need for this project include a wrench, c-clamp, adjustable or open wrench, Allen wrenches, a hammer and a rubber band. When you take your car, make sure you are supported by blocks or jack stands. It is never safe to work in a car that is supported by a jack only. The first thing you have to do is to remove the wheel. The ears should be easy to make, it is best done from the bottom up.

Then, in order to remove the brake pads, must first remove the brake caliper. The brake caliper can be located just above the lug bolts, sitting on top of the brake disc. There is a screw holding the clamp in place. You can easily remove the wrench. There are different types of screws that might hold it in place, so it's a good idea to have different keys in hand. Now you can pull the shoe off by pulling straight up. You may have to move a bit to loosen it. Now you can sit the caliper some convenient place, or use your bungee cord for tying.

Now comes the time to remove the brake pads. Actually should slide to the right without giving any problem. Remember how they are attached, however, because they need to know if you are installing fresh. If you are driving an old car, you can have to be playing with his cock a little to come off. There may be some small metal tabs keeping the pads in place as well. If so, make sure you hang on them, you will need it when you put the new pads in.

Now you can easily slide your new brake pads, and use the metal tabs to hold them in place if necessary. Now with the new pads to your placement, you should adjust the brake piston. This team adapts As the pads wear in order to keep the brakes working efficiently. To reset, you need the c-clamp. Place the end of the clamp with the screw against the piston. The other end should rest behind the caliper assembly. Now just slowly tighten the clamp until the piston is moved to a point where you can easily insert pads.

Next you need to do is slide the caliper assembly over your new pads. Replace the bolts. At this point, it's a good idea to push down the brake petal a few times so you can be sure that the brake pressure. Now you can replace the wheel nuts. What is a good idea to make sure that nuts are truly secure. At this point you have successfully changed the brake pads on your car.
