The link between water mills and a coat of arms
Peugeot and Vauxhall car makers have had mixed results in recent years but today these days are so high on the list of popularity that some suppliers have decided to combine the two together Peugeot and Opel dealerships.
Peugeot have proved constant since its inception in the motor industry in 1898 with his steam tricycle, considered the first car, and Vauxhall have played a tough game of catch up triumphant.
Jean Pequinot Peugeot initially in the successful construction of water mills, but not content with this, and using his obsession with wheels and gears, he and his company then went on to produce coffee grinders, shavers, sewing machines, grills, springs of watches, clocks, garden furniture (not sure how it fits!), saws, bicycles, tricycles and gramophones.
In the early years of gold Peugeot recorder was commissioned to design the brand of lion for articles fabricated steel mills Peugeot Brothers. Durability, speed and flexibility of a lion is comparable to that of steel and so the logo Company was born.
Looking like beast that represents the Vauxhall, the Griffin is based on the coat of arms of Fulk Le Bréant, a mercenary soldier on marriage, the manor was granted an area of London, later known as Vauxhall. It also appears that had the manor of Luton for services to King John and therefore connected with the production areas of Vauxhall.
Peugeot initially resisted the bicycle market against the British, but after shaking a bit of patriotic fervor, many competitors in the Paris - Nantes in 1889 Race decided to use Peugeot cycles and the first five in line goal. Still riding on this success, the company tried to create a car rental company in 1898, but this failed miserably.
For the same time, Vauxhall continues to be built pumps and marine engines in Vauxhall, London. His first car was launched in 1903, swiftly followed in 1905 by the movement of the company Luton, where they were well known for their sporty cars. General Motors bought the company in 1925 and its sporty looks was domesticated in a more conservative of America.
Peugeot took over sports and began to influence the movement of all life in the world of motorsport to win the Monte Carlo rally in 1931. The events and races throughout the world have seen Peugot lead right up to today with the races now won the Peugeot 908. This has kept them in the center Peugeot care and have had consistent success.
Vauxhall have not found things so easy. Even with the Calibra Cup 1989, which was officially the car more aerodynamic in the world at the same time, they still struggled to overcome its reputation for corrosion.
However, it can not be all bad. Now are closer than ever to Ford in terms of sales figures and with their latest models turn back into sports mode are increasingly popular among young people. Personally, I have owned two Vauxhalls in the past 10 years. A gentleman who has proved very reliable and a 2.0 Astra, which was a fantastic little car, but I gained 6 points for speeding!
Despite differences in their history, Peugeot and Vauxhall cars are on par with the other to the extent that dealers are happy to combine the two.
