2008 Suzuki SV650S
Sometimes a bike in good condition can be affected by poor design of the components. An uncomfortable seat, out of place levers exchange, or poorly thought-out handlebar can ruin an otherwise pleasant trip and leave you scratching your head - or rubbing other parts of his anatomy - at the end of the day.
That is the case with Suzuki SV650S, and this is both a story about this bike handlebars, as it is about the bicycle itself. My tester came with racing style clips in bars and that was all he could do to stretch myself through the tank to reach them. I realize handle can be replaced, but clip-ons were originally designed for racing bikes flat-out, and have no place in a city street midrange / sport motorcycle. That may seem cold, but they are impractical, uncomfortable, and I would say, sure, that affect the ability of the pilot to look ahead, and stay focused for any length of time. If he had not noticed, I hated those handlebars while seriously contemplating removing them and buy some drag style bars as regular I could ride this bike in relative comfort. In short, unless you plan to go racing or enjoy pain, do not choose the clip-on handlebars with the SV650S.
As for the bicycle itself, this model received a few minor adjustments to '08. The engine has been inhaled and is a bit more lively than their predecessors. It should not confused with the "non-S" SV650, my tester has a frame mounted fairing, headlights of a different agreement and various combos paint. It is less of a hooligan bike and over cafe racer.
Both are driven by a 90-degree V-Twin is liquid-cooled, four valves and two spark plugs per cylinder, injection Electronic fuel, and a pair of camshafts. It is accompanied by a six-speed transmission and final drive is chain. Suzuki does not release numbers official horsepower and / or torque, but that is what the engine's output is enough to make this bike very lively performance and a top speed of about 225 km / h. Only weighs 169 pounds dry, so the power to weight ratio is obviously more than decent. The fact that an engine of this displacement can belt out so never both be surprising. The instrumentation is a level above the base: tachometer, speedometer / odometer, temperature gauge and low level indicator light fuel. There is also a little clock, which I found kind of funny. The fuel tank contains 17 liters and this is a bike that needs the good things.
My tester had a good color scheme of "Hero" white with a red seat and passenger and definitely stood out among the crowd. The Most bikes of this ilk, no graphics and scallops and that everywhere, but my test bike seemed pretty clean. One of the coolest things about he is the LED tailights located on the backside of the body. I also like the fact that the passenger can be lifted to accommodate small (very small) items such as a cell phone or wallet, as the saddle.
The SV650S offers a driving experience unlike other popular media Suzuki's range of offerings, the GSX650F. On the one hand, it has half as many cylinders, and engine settings is completely different. This bike is really good time rough and no smooth and linear delivery of power to his stable. In a sprint, it'd be tough to call, but has a little less SV650S complement off-the-line, and does not seem to flow as well as those of the GSX650F. It is 47 kilos lighter, however. In short, I really enjoyed riding the GSX650F, but basically only SV650S suffered. I agree that this could be due to these miserable handlebars. Some might say that the SV650S just has more personality, but there you go. One thing the two bikes have in common is a beautifully crafted gears and shift mechanism. Precise and unambiguous, well-spaced .... there is no better.
This version of the SV650 also has as standard and ABS brakes are a pair of floating discs at the front and a single disc in back. More than enough. Height the seat is 800 mm, so that for small riders, is a bit of reach, which is a little strange, because this bike is aimed at female drivers.
But despite riding him, the SV650S is the experience of more than sport bike. It tossable, agile, lively, and has a generous ratio of fun. A bit noisy sustained highway speeds, however, not so comfortable in traffic bumper to bumper, but I know that some pilots believe that is one of the best bikes mid-size sport on the market, period, and no doubt maintained its popularity over the years. For its base price slightly less than $ 8800, gives it an elegant and fun experience riding.
