Why the red face?

There are many things that can cause temporary redness face, such as alcohol or spicy food, embarrassed in the social situations, or with a sensitivity to niacin or monosodium glutamate (MSG). However, there are many conditions that can cause facial redness more chronic. This article describes some of them.

1. Cushing Syndrome
   Cushing's syndrome is a disorder hormone that is caused by exposure of the body too cortisol (a stress hormone). Cushing's syndrome is relatively rare, and in addition to red face, includes the following symptoms: high blood pressure, high blood sugar, fatigue, irritability, depression and anxiety. Women with syndrome Cushing's often show signs of increased hair growth on face, neck, abdomen, chest and thighs.
2. Lupus (SLE, lupus erythematosus)
   Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects multiple organs and tissues, including skin, heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, joints, brain and blood. The flushing, which is sometimes associated with lupus is a rash on the cheeks and nose. The flushing with lupus there is a butterfly pattern (butterfly rash) and does not involve the front. lupus patients may also have skin rashes in other parts of his body, that often develop or worsen after sun exposure. Lupus is diagnosed by antibody tests.
3. Rosacea
   The facial redness of rosacea involves the cheeks, nose and forehead and gradually. It begins as a reddening of the face facial flushing seems not to go and in many cases resembles sunburn. But while the initial facial redness may vary from day to day, symptoms of rosacea progressively worse: in addition to the initial facial redness, small papules and pustules appear on the face, which may burst and ooze. These telangiectasias do not respond well to topical treatments and make face to have a "residual" redness. The telangiectases can be effectively treated with intense pulsed light.
4. Scarlet fever
   Scarlet fever is caused by an exotoxin of the bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes. Clinical signs include high fever and sore throat followed by a sharp (as sandpaper) whole-body rash that lasts 3-4 days. The skin starts to peel after the rash disappears. Other classic signs of scarlet fever is a language bright red strawberry appearance and a facial redness on the cheeks (the nose and surrounding areas of the mouth are usually red).
5. Rubella
   Rubella (also called German measles) is a disease caused by the rubella virus. It has a period incubation of 2-3 weeks and the symptoms are a rash that develops first on the face, extending to the trunk, arms and legs. Complications due to rubella are rare, but rubella can cause complications during pregnancy if the infection occurs during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy.
