How much power will I get from a small wind turbine?

Before buying the brand new wind turbine and takes itself off grid, are you sure about the total power you will get from it each year?

Your first step is to determine approximately the amount of energy you want to produce, from its existing use (electricity bills). Watch your total kilowatt usage per month. Next you need to know how much wind you have in your site. Wind Maps - like Canada indicate the amount of wind occurs on average for each place in the country. The map of Canada for example, provides the average wind speed at three separate heights - 30m, 50m and 80m.

The annual output to 400 watts AirX a wind turbine on a tower 30 meters (approx. 100 feet) in London, Ontario would be approximately 390 kwh.

As a comparison, three additional models Southwest wind energy could produce the power output at this site and height:

Whisper 100-2100 kwh per year
Whisper 200-2710 kwh per year
Whisper 500-7850 kwh per year

Compare the output of energy per year for the power they wanted to produce. This should help reduce the selection to a few good articles.
