How to remove a BMW shifter
The question I have asked my customers more consistent over the years is "how I can delete my original gear knob BMW? ".
The question is often asked about the original knobs for the manual transmission BMW BMW from 1982 to present date. All these models have gear knobs with the same type of mounting.
Despite what many think, original knobs are screwed no BMW or glued. They are a simple press of the setting. If the old gear knob BMW is stuck, then most likely within the same and someone has collapsed has been chosen by the tail instead of buying a new one.
The method I recommend is very simple:
1. If you are right, I feel the left front seat. Sit in the front seat right if left handed. This allows you to get the best grip you can on your BMW shifter.
2. Take hold of the lever changes firmly with both hands. Try giving a strong pull up, but be careful not to hit you in the face when the draw. You may laugh, but I've seen happen many times. If it is too tight and not yet out, you may have to try again, but this time put your weight on it. It can sometimes take several attempts, if very tight. Do not worry nothing bad as I've never done so in 20 years to change them.
3. Once removed, you will notice that there is a slot diagonally across the top of the shifter. His new original gear knob BMW will have a notch on the inside of it that fits into this slot. Check up on it and see. To enter, simply slide the knob on the shifter and push downwards. Gently twist from left to right while pushing until you feel mark on the inside of his encounter with the slot at the top of the shifter. You will know when this happens it will not be able to twist more. Everything below to do is give him a low blow to the firm with his fist. His command of new BMW gear is now fitted. That's all there is to do.
There were a few original buttons BMW gear with the bellows attachment. In other words, the gear knob and gaiters are one piece. These gear knobs still fit in the same way but before going to pull the shifter, you have to separate the first bellows.
As the diaphragm is connected to a plastic frame that attaches on the console around the shifter, all you have to do is feel for the frame through the material of the bellows and push in toward the gear knob, while the elevation. Do this on each side of the free will of the bellows of the console. You can then remove the BMW shifter following the instructions above. During assembly a new one-piece control gear and gaiters BMW, place the shift lever before cutting the gaiter in place.
