It is made of carbon fiber. This is an ultra light and at the same time, a tough material. The structure is form of tubes and pockets. This means you can absorb four times more energy than steel in the highly unlikely event of an accident. This is a typical feature formula one car. The side body panels are also made up of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

Mercedes SLR always intended to be a hybrid car which is powerful, fast and at the same time be very comfortable for city driving. Hence it is loaded with features like seats Electric power windows and central locking. A very effective air conditioning system and premium sound system add to the luxury.

The safety aspect is in charge of the SLR in which comes with six airbags to protect driver and passengers of the impacts in eight directions. The switches that control the air brakes and transmission are properly mounted. The scroll thumb switches are on the steering wheel makes driving the SLR a pleasant experience.
