The lower part of the canoe to be not difficult and can be done in a few hours with simple hand tools and less than $ 50 in materials. The turbulence energy is eaten and may delay your boat down. It has been known for some time that a 2-in. scratching on a smooth surface can generate turbulence for 10 to 12 inches as the water flows over the scratch. If you have a bigger boat the bottom is probably not perfectly smooth for longer.
First, use a sanding sponge 100 grit or palm sander with 3M-type purple paper to clean the bottom. Then leave the glass enclosure. Finally, use blue tape to mask water line. Urethane hardener mix to 3 parts A to 1 part hardener B and applied with a 9 "Mohair 3 / 16 nap roller. To keep the product as smooth as possible I like to put in a spray bottle and apply a bit of urethane directly to the bottom, then spread wet urethane roll out as thin as possible. By the time you reach the end of the vessel is likely to start over with the second layer. If you see some bubbles as you go just returned turn around again to release the pressure buildup.
