The Assyrians, however, had helmets that were in a cone shape. These helmets also had small muff to protect against undue damage to the soft tissues of the ear.

The ancient Greeks went a step further by developing bronze helmets covering the whole head. These helmets have only a Y-shaped cut for the soldier to see and breathe. The Romans used a looser helmet that was made of a bronze or iron and furniture cheek.

The hulls of those days were robust and heavy. The faces of their users are completely hidden by a visor mobile. Because their faces were hidden became customary for gentlemen to carry identification marks on their shields and flags. This led to the development of heraldry.

The Persians used a kind of helmet that had a camail, reduce or similar fixture which protected the sides of the face and neck.

With the advent of weapons in the battlefield, armor plate became obsolete. The only piece of armor to survive this revolution was the armor (chest) and helmet.

Replaced swords as weapons, the men began to trust in the trenches and sandbags to protect against bullets. body armor for the lost standing armies. However, the hulls are still necessary to protect the soldier from shrapnel and bounce. These helmets are now made of steel to provide better protection and mobility.

Today, helmets are still used as a standard combat gear. Can be made of steel or other material that protects against high-projectiles speed and shrapnel.
