Keep your house warm this winter!
If you're like I should hate the freezing days and nights sub zero and it can not escape due to households living in seeming to be made of paper. Freezing under 20 blankets with an electric heater that uses thousands of dollars every minute of electricity is not the way should be.
Luckily, there are simple measures that can be done to improve the comfort level of your home in winter and make it much warmer than would be the temptation to open windows in a day -1 degree.
It all comes down to look in your home loses most of its heat and how to improve efficiency when it comes heating appliances. Retrofitting and improving insulation are an obvious step and can really benefit the comfort level of your home.
Isolation
Isolation is a key factor when it comes to temperature control in buildings and should be used in all ceilings, walls and raised floors to minimize heat loss. It can be very daunting to choose a good brand of isolation that offers excellent thermal qualities, besides being good for you and the environment. Always seek isolation which is made from a base of cellulose or fiberglass blocks as the technology of today is very advanced for these two types of isolation media. Also look sheet of aluminum foil / blocks that actually reflect heat (also works great in the warmer months). Do not go cheap fiberglass or isolates any other media containing high levels of formaldehyde (a highly toxic compound that melts in your room to breathe).
The natural sunlight
Sunlight through windows in winter, can increase the temperature of your home. Crop plants or foliage that may be blocking sunlight in all its windows facing north. However, make sure the east and west of Windows may be exposed during the winter, but covered during the summer as if these windows are fully prone house that will do the opposite of you as it does in winter.
Reduce heat loss (when using heaters)
To decrease the loss heat when it comes to heat your home from the inside there are several ways to significantly reduce this.
1. seal all holes in floors, ceilings and walls
2. close all gaps around doors and windows
3. Cart thick curtains, borders are closed by heavy interior windows
4. add automatic door the external doors to reduce the risk of the door was left open
5. form vents that open automatically and close on the chimneys and exhaust fans
Home Heaters
Always check the effectiveness of any heater you purchase and make sure your existing heater are regularly treated. There are many different technologies these days used to heat the homes of solar powered systems of ventilation, heaters energy efficient panel, fuel efficient gas heaters and more. You can also search the new inverter technology reverse cycle air conditioning ducts, to be very energy efficient. Check with your local energy organization to find out what heaters are best suited for your home and space requirements.
Prevailing Winds
Verify that the prevailing winds come from in your area to establish structures and systems to deflect these winds.
Separate rooms
Isolate larger rooms that you want to keep warm by setting curtains or installing doors. This will help reduce the operating costs of your heater and maintain a comfortable temperature in the room you are using.
Reduction of heat loss, insulation, retrofitting and installation energy efficiency heaters are the best ways to keep your home warmer this winter.
