The birth of gorilla Urban Street Wear
The street is this mythical giant creature every clothing brand wants to be part of, but not sure how to do the pieces of the puzzle fit together to make it happen. It's a bit like the popular kids in high school that everyone wants to be with you, but keep getting shunned when you try from getting too friendly. It's an industry that has generated only in the last decade or so and gradually became a runaway train powered by a 500 gorilla pounds. Some people say the phrase "street wear" is overused and are probably right still can not deny its existence. Brand Clothing realized companies long ago is all the rage to be "urban." urban clothing brands have created the industry of hip-chic, where people prefer to buy a new shirt or a pair of limited edition shoes instead of paying your electric bill. Who needs light when you look fly as hell right?
Already You see, I can write this article because I personally witnessed the transition from first-hand the industry grows. When I was 6 years old my parents gave me a skateboard for my birthday and never left. I wish I still had a skateboard, a skateboard Pink Nightmare on Elm Street with banana yellow wheels. He was very ill at the time. I quickly started to read all the skate magazines out there. I think I had a 10-year subscription to Thrasher. I can almost remember all the indoor skate magazines dating back to around 1986 and I observed the culture and style change and evolve radically over the years. Almost 25 years after the industry itself was once frowned upon is thriving. At that time, skateboarding was simply no "Accepted" and most people do not very friendly toward each other skaters, if you had a skateboard when a bully plain and simple. It was not accepted by all or any culture in the time. When people saw that he had a skateboard that was terrified thinking they were going to steal your wallet. Now is the skateboarding in the Olympics!
In 1986 me my first contact with the skater style and that was the beginning of the clothes industry for me. I've seen brands such as Vision, Powell Peralta Airwalk and pave the way for urban brands today. Many urban clothing today inspirations are derived from what parents streetwear god created many years ago. Without them the industry would not be what it is today.
Trademarks quickly began to realize that the children where it really starts to dig this stuff. Branded T-shirts, caps and anything else you can think slowly began to fly out of all stores. I remember doing all my school purchase a list of California skates cheap as 5 years in a row, at that time just BMX starting and building a new extension to the community of urban street. At that time, it was Chuck Taylors and the Red Hot Chili Peppers who sculpted many current urban street. Now urban idols and figures are on the covers of some of the more general magazines, cereal boxes, soil and ads from around the world representing their brands Favorite streetwear.
When hip-hop found its way onto the scene changed things. Not for better or worse just add another element to the industry. This was another way for brands to capitalize on a whole new urban demographic. I remember about 12 years old and the only person at school to hear Black Sheep, and I loved it! Today, marriage between hip hop and skateboarding style created a catalyst for what the street wear industry is today. In Southern California skateboard culture sweep West Coast to the East Coast, the slum children quickly began to create a new kind of benchmark for skate culture we see today. Today's children are exposed to some of the best in style elements and quickly began to see the urban background to enter into the skateboard clothing. We were still missing many years of Nike SB, but everything was starting to point in that direction. A movement was born quickly and marks all over now use a skateboard or a broker BMX to promote their brands and spread the word further. It is "hip" to be part of that niche community and is only getting stronger. Toddlers they just have your driver's license are buying homes for their parents the money they earn in this industry.
Yes, many brands are trying to drop the wear line the street in his brand label, but the reality is that this is an industry that is fiercely getting bigger and stronger. The new brands are emerging for each and every day and are doing very interesting things. Just when you think you've seen it all, a brand surrounded by a Lego theme is totally stimulating the creative senses. The street wear industry a youth movement and we will see some radical evolvements come from this gorilla in the very near future.
