Looking for cheap road bikes? Then you’ve come to the right place (well, that’s what you’ll be hearing a lot anyway).  You’ll be able to find lots of them around as well, both online and offline. The main concern is not in the “cheap” part of course – it’s in the quality.

With the right idea and information you’ll be able to find quality cheap road bikes that will last for years thereby giving you more worth for the money that you paid. Remember that as a rule, road bikes should be light and possess rigid frame. Some of the more expensive ones will actually come fitted with carbon fiber frames – but this is not what you need of course.

If you’re just starting with road bikes a cheap road bike made by some of the major bike manufacturers around will do. Now, when it comes to road bikes whether cheap or not, you’ll need to establish your own set of standards in order to guarantee quality in your purchase. Here are some of the most important ones that you should have in mind when looking for the right bike:

Manufacturer: Choose a road bike built by reputable manufacturers like Giant, Specialized, or Trek for example. These bikes will not only come with a guarantee but are more likely to have dependable fittings and fixtures. Of course, it’s not saying that smaller manufacturers will be inferior; you just want to make sure that if ever something does break, you’ll know where to run to.

Design: Road bikes generally can be quite complicated if you allow it to be. There are many additional fittings that you can have for more comfort or stability when riding. As good as this may sound though, things can get confusing fast once you encounter problems. For beginners its best that you stick to simple designs and minimal “add-ons” first to avoid having to deal with the dilemma mentioned above.

Size: You need to make sure that the size of the bike is suited for your personal comfort. Cheap road bikes will come in different sizes so it’s best that   you take the time to measure in order to find the perfect size for you.

If you’re looking for cheap road bikes then its best that you do a little research and some roadwork first. Check out local bike shops within your area and try to get various opinions about them from experts or enthusiasts. You can also check online sites that sell or offer more information about bikes in order to learn more.

Once all questions have been answered and all concerns addressed, do some comparison before you purchase. This will help you get the bike that you want without having to pay too much for it.

With all the correct idea and knowledge you’ll manage to find top quality low-cost road cycles that may last for years therefore giving you much more really worth your money can buy that you paid out. Understand that usually, highway bicycles needs to be light and possess inflexible body. A few of the more costly kinds will in fact arrive equipped along with carbon fibre frames – yet this is not the thing you need obviously.

I am not quite sure what the term road bike means. What type of bicycle exactly does it refer to? Does it look like a mountain bike, with straight, flast handle bars, gears, hand and pedal brakes? I am wondering if the term refers more to the lower price range and the general use of the bike style as opposed to higher priced bikes made for off road performance. I am interested in a mountain bike style that I will use only for general street use.

I want to buy a low cost road bike and I have a few questions that you only touched on in this article. If I understand correctly, carbon fiber frames are the more expensive, higher quality frames. Are carbon fiber frames beneficial because of their strength? Are low cost bikes built with alloy or aluminum frames? If so, are alloy or aluminum frames light weight and how do they compare to carbon fiber frames in terms of weight and strength? Lastly, I am also wondering about the price range of low cost road bikes. What should I expect to pay? I would appreciate some feedback from the web site administrators or any of the readers.

  23. Teresita says:

I am trying to purchase a road bike as a surprise gift for my nephew, how would you suggest measuring for the bike in that case so that I can keep it a secret? I am not real familiar with these bikes so I am going to definitely take your advice on the manufacturer to look for. You said I should be able to find some of these at the local bike shops in the area, what would be a good used price for one of these brands? I know that it is supposed to be light weight and that there are a lot of “add-ons but I think I will let him deal with the add-ons part of it when he decides what he wants, hence the term add-ons. Thank you for this great advice I can start my shopping now with confidence that I know what I am looking for.
