Black Sea - an important place in history and out of places to go now

The Black Sea region as a good classical music composition, has a framework of spectacular coastline and mountain ranges, containing marine life from the oldest found in the earth to the most intelligent life form has been found. You can explore its contents by a wide range of opportunities and the visitor can only describe their beauty from their point of view or view it. Everyone's experience of the Black Sea region otherwise depdenant on their interests and the angle of approach. In this article I give a little history of the black sea, and a description some of the features in and around it. You will find details about various places and activities in other articles I have written about the Crimean War but I hope to convince you one thing, visiting the area and give your own story about the place. It is a memory for life, but not least, the place is unique in history and today.

Looking through the Black Sea from the Ai-Petri mountain, you may be wondering why a brilliant blue sea is called the black sea. The reason It is unknown why the sea is called black. The sea can be pretty stormy in winter, however, some believe the name was given by sailors and pirates who discovered their dark appearance when the sky turned dark with storm clouds.
The ancient Greeks knew the black sea as the Scythian Sea, named after the tribes who occupied its shores at that time. Shipwrecked sailors do not expect mercy from the Scythians, who plundered the wrecks and the tops of the skulls came from the sailors. The Greeks also called it Pontos Axen, which means it's inhospitable. When the Greeks settled in Crimea, they called it Pontos Euxenos, which means the sea hospital.

Crimea has 517 km of clean beaches - mostly consisting of small stones, although this is the black volcanic sand in Sudak and Morskoy the west we find silver sand Yevpatoria. Many beaches are public, and are privately owned by hotels and resorts and spas usually open to non-customers at a low price per day. The rocky Black Sea bays are ideal for diving, and there are many gallops along the coast. Balaklava is one of the bookmarks, where there is a large underwater reef. From there also you can dive to the underwater ruins of Khersoness, where part of the Byzantine city overwhelmed by the increase in sea level.

playwright Anton Chekhov's dacha in Gursuf overlooks a small bay that used to see the dolphins. Apart from bottles and other species of dolphins, the sea has about 180 species of fish, including tuna, anchovy, herring, mullet, mackerel, whitefish and famous, is on the menu most of Crimea good restaurants.
There are also some seals in the Black Sea, but their number is decreasing rapidly. Bottlenose dolphins are in demand for amusement parks and dolphin, because of their playful acrobatics and receptivity to training, and about 120 live Black Sea dolphins were traded internationally between 1990 and 2001.
If you swim in the Black Sea at night, especially in August, you may notice that light waves have a strange quality. This is the phosphorescence of the sea, caused by the plankton in the water interact.

The Black Sea is very deep (1271 m in the center) but is less salty than most of the oceans.
It began life as a freshwater lake about 22,000 years ago. About seven to nine in 1000 years, glaciers melted and ice caps, sea level rise made and finally overflowed the Mediterranean through the Bosporus straight, turning the lake into the Black Sea. Many archaeologists believe that this catastrophic event was, in fact, the Flood of Noah in the Bible.
The sea is unique in having two layers, an oxygenated upper layer, about 200 meters deep, full of life and death "" lower layer, where it was thought until recently anything to survive. The lower layer may have formed when the salt waters of the Mediterranean flooded inch thicker than the fresh lake water moves, it would have fallen directly into the fund, leaving a dilute mixture of fresh and salt water on top. Recently, German scientists have discovered coral made by micro-organisms and sulphate methane processing in total darkness in the depths of the Black Sea. These corals are now believed to be the world's oldest lifestyle. traditional views of early life on Earth have focused on plants that began the conversion of carbon dioxide into oxygen for about three million years. The newly discovered organisms live on methane and is believed to have originated four million years ago. The German scientists believe might be useful to rid the earth of excess methane, the second most important greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide.
