Why Mountain Biking the phenomenon is growing in popularity
Mountain biking has taken the racing world by storm. It was not all that long ago when the phrase "mountain bike" would have resulted in blank stares. Now you see them everywhere. Mountain bikes are made to handle almost every field imaginable, and so have become so popular. Like the SUV, most people who use them have no need for its full range of functions, but it is good for any capacity is there "just in case."
Mountain bikes are good even for the urban cyclist because they eliminate the concerns one may have when faced with potholes, gravel, and poor road conditions. Mountain bike riders use their bikes for a wide range of activities and contests. A number of races and competitions have sprung up to make use of many skills of mountain biking.

If cross-country races are too short to you, there is always resistance (or endurance) races. These races cover in excess of 70 miles and climb to elevations of 8,000 feet and more.

Are judged events where drivers compete to achieve the greatest, most amazing jumps participation of turning the bike into the air, tumbling, and perfectly flat drop the bike and back before landing.
Another form of extreme competition cycling is mountain bike trials.
