What material bearings are made of?
The bearings are used in all kinds of different machines and equipment, allow the machine to move easily and sometimes Feely at very high speeds and can carry loads weighed simultaneously. This is a big task for a small piece of metal, but a bearing has plenty of power for its small size. Bearings are made of a lot of different material, for example, in the old days when the ships of the bearings were made of wood, nowadays tend to be made of different metals such as cast iron, stainless steel or ceramic.
Is the bearing material to make a difference in the performance of the bearing? It makes a difference and depending on what the bearing will be used to decrypt this the bearing material for use.
Stainless steel bearings - Stainless steel bearings have become the rage in the bearing industry. Why? Stainless steel bearings are very durable and can withstand loads very heavy because they are a very hard metal and can withstand the weight. They are also resistant to corrosion due to the layer of steel and that could be used in water or chemicals and not scratched or damaged. For this reason they are popular choice bearing in the food industry, within these types of industrial lubricants must be food safe used in bearings, as well as Health and Safety reasons.
Ceramic bearings - now when you thought you could not get better than stainless steel bearings, then they are wrong because the ceramic bearing has appeared and is better and has many advantages over stainless steel bearing. How is better? Ceramic bearings can handle more speed, more acceleration. Some machines and appliances do not need the fastest speed possible, but some faster and do so a bearing is a dream come true and ceramic bearing is just that. They have a lower friction and greater rigidity that is that makes them go so fast. They do not need as much lubrication is good because it does not degrade the life of the bearing lubrication and so they need most amount of media that these bearings last longer. Another advantage of this bearing that makes him stand out from the crowd is its ability to bring work in super high temperatures, sometimes up to 1600F. Ceramic bearings are commonly found in aircraft, dental equipment and high speed engines.
The bearings can be made out of all the different types of materials such as metals described above and many more, each has a different set of advantages and disadvantages and they are more suitable for certain jobs and certain applications than others. Choosing the right bearing for the right job is the key to a successful piece of machinery or equipment.
