Giro d'Italia: Results of stage 10

The Giro d'Italia, also known as the Giro has just finished stage 10. The winner was the Italian Franco Pellizotti Liquigas team, which now moves to fourth place in the overall standings after finishing three minutes and 23 seconds ahead of race leader and fellow Ivan Basso. Before this race, Pellizotti was in 23 th place.

The Italian beat Russian Vladimir Efimkin and Serguei Yakovlev Kazakhstan on the final costs up short at the end of the 190-km stage from Termoli to Peschici.
As the overall leader of the Tour de France is awarded a yellow jersey, since 1931 the overall leader Money gets in the Maglia Rosa (pink jersey). The "King of the Mountains" is the Maglia Verde (green jersey). The race leader's point of view the Ciclamino Maglia (mauve jersey). The Giro d'Italia is also a daily competition called the Intergiro and leader is awarded the Maglia Azzurra (blue shirt). Member the pink jersey today is Ivan Basso of Team CSC.

Reached and surpassed Pellizotti Axel Merckx, son of professional cycling Eddy (who won the Tour five times), in the final hundred meters from the stage. The Belgian was disappointed after finishing 11th.

The Giro transfer to Tuscany on Wednesday for having the second day rest of this year's competition. The Giro d'Italia will start again on Thursday with a 50 km time trial around Pontedera individual.
