Half Finger

Chocolate Cake Lady Finger

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
3 / 4 cup Dutch process cocoa
1 / 4 cup cornstarch
1 / 4 teaspoon salt
2 cups skim milk
2 squares semisweet chocolate (1-ounce) coarsely chopped
3 tablespoons stick margarine
1 1 / 2 cups low-fat ice cream topping, thawed
23 ladyfingers
1 / 4 cup Grand Marnier or orange flavored liqueur other
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Orange slices (optional)

Preparation

Combine first 4 ingredients in large saucepan. Gradually add skim milk, stirring a
wire whisk until blended. Add the chopped chocolate, bring to a boil over medium heat, and
cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add the margarine, and cook for 1 minute, stirring
constantly.

Remove from heat. Place pan into a large bowl filled with ice for 10 minutes or until
mix chocolate cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.

Remove pan from ice. Pour 1 / 2 cup chocolate mixture in small bowl, mix gently and
whipped cream. Cover and chill the chocolate, whipped cream mix. Set aside remaining chocolate mixture.

Line a loaf of 9 x 5 inches with heavy-duty plastic wrap, allowing wrap to extend over the edge
the mold. Split ladyfingers in half lengthwise. Arrange halves 9 Ladyfinger Over three
rows, rounded down, in a single layer in bottom of pan. Brush 1 tablespoon of Grand Marnier over ladyfingers in pan.

Spread chocolate approximately 1 / 2 cup of the mixture over the layer Ladyfinger. Repeat 3
several times with remaining ladyfingers, Grand Marnier and chocolate mixture, ending
with ladyfingers (one lady finger will be on).

Cover and chill at least 8 hours.

Uncover the pan and invest in a serving dish, remove plastic wrap. Sprinkle with
powdered sugar.

Yield: 9 servings (serving size: 1 slice of cake and 3 tablespoons cream soup).

Notes: Dutch process cocoa has less acidity than regular cocoa, and gives the pudding
mixture is mild chocolate flavor. Serve with whipped cream chocolate cake mix.
Serving Ideas: Garnish each serving with an orange slice, if desired.
