A unique beauty of the Changbai Mountain

The combination of Korean pine trees, broadleaf trees and other trees shows a singular Changbai Mountain beauty. Along the Jingjiang Valley on the western side of the Changbai Mountain, there are a variety of plant species. Besides the native Korean pine, There is also the Amur linden, Mongolian oak, elm Japanese maple, birch and more. Thanks to a favorable growth environment, the forests are dense, full of primitive views. Seasonal changes for the thriving mixed forest adds charm to the mountains.

In China, there are only two well-preserved forests Korean pine, you're in the mountains of Small Xing'an, the other here in Changbai. The Korean pine favorite medium is black humus soil, and habitats such as gentle slopes, steep peaks, ravines or fiduciary and valleys are all suitable. Its bark is reddish-brown with some grayish black texture. Wood has a fine-grained, light and smooth texture with a slight red tint. The Korean pine is named hongsong Chinese (red pine) because of its reddish wood. Its best feature is its stable and straight so that the grain is not affected change shape, regardless of moisture or dryness.

Korean pine is native to northeastern China. This is a member of the white pine, which is characterized by the leaves (needles) in bundles of five years. It is an ancient pine subgenus. In the virgin forest of Changbai pine Korean stands tall, along with other species such as small seeds of spruce, fir, Korean, Amur linden, birch, ash and Manchuria. Beneath these trees, there more than 20 species of shrubs such as Corylus mandshurica. On the ground floor of the herbaceous species are even more diverse.

Each year in late June extending smoke yellow pine forest on all primitive as a large yellow umbrella. This is pollen yellow smoke of thousands of tall pines of Korea, taking a number of men and flowers female, the male flowers below and above the female. In early summer, when the flowers open, pollen yellow male flowers fly into the sky, each small pollen grain fitted with two small air cells that make it lighter than air. Therefore, it can fly up to the female flower, and the sky above the forest drifting with the flow of air. This is the yellow smoke that we see.

To enjoy and savor the beauty of group, individual beauty and primitive beauty of Korean pine here has to go to Lushui river. There, in a forest near the river, is "the king of Korea Pinos' 0ver 480 years old. The tree is 35.5 meters high and has a trunk diameter L.24 meters. According to historical materials, the volcano erupted in Changbai l597, 1668 and 1702. This tenacious "King Pinos Korea "is not far from Lake Tianchi, but has survived all these disasters.

Lushui River plantation of Korean pine seeds? Scheduled l by the government in 964, has all the area of 11 764 hectares and is the largest in China. It is an excellent natural gene bank.
