Beyond Rio: Brazil's Other Hotspots
Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world. Its sandy white beaches, its famous hotels, its open-air restaurants, its late night bars, and its enormous jungle interior, are just a few of the reasons why many travel to Brazil. But with so many exciting options, its best to take a guided tour so that you can maximize your Brazilian experience.
Day 1: The city of Rio de Janeiro is a must-see. This is the beautiful coastal port where the Portugese royal family temporarily moved their capital. Its enchanting beaches are warm year-round, and the statue of Christ the Redeemer looks famously over the bay. Here you will begin your tour. After arriving in the airport, spend the afternoon at a sunny beach before settling into your hotel.
Day 2: Sugarloaf Mountain, Rio de Janeiro, and Corcovado Mountian tours
In the morning, you'll head to Sugarloaf Mountain, a peak that rises up dramatically from the bay. You will ride in a cable car first to Morro da Urca, which stands 886ft above sea level, before continuing on to the peak. Next you will return to the city, where you will first see the Cathedral, then the Sambodromo, or Samba Stadium, and lastly the Maracana football stadium. These impressive coliseums are well worth the trip. After having lunch in the city, you will take a train to another mountain, this one arguably the most famous in Brazil. Christ the Redeemer, an immense statue, perches atop Corcovado, or The Hunchback Mountain. You'll take the train again down to the city, touring a number of popular beaches including Ipanema and Copacabana.
Day 3: Free Day in Rio
After hitting all the major tourist destinations on Day 2, you can spend this day relaxing. Have breakfast at the hotel before heading to the beach, or take an optional guided tour.
Day 4: Rio de Janeiro to Buzios
Rising early and having breakfast in your comfortable hotel, you will transfer to Buzios. Here you can settle into your new hotel before exploring this beautiful city. Relax on the beach, and enjoy the lively nightlife scene while you dine at one of the many open-air restaurants.
Day 5: Buzios Catamaran Tour
Buzios, known for its wonderful beaches, is best explored by taking to the sea. You will take a beautiful catamaran tour of the many diving spots offshore, where you can take a dive if you wish.
Day 6: Free Day in Buzios
If one of the beaches along the catamaran tour caught your eye, such as Ossos, Ferradura, or Geriba, you can spend the whole day relaxing there. Make sure to shop the many boutiques on Rua das Pedras, and dine there as well. Alternatively, you can take an optional guided tour.
Day 7: Buzios/Rio de Janeiro/Florianopolis
You'll have an early breakfast, then transfer to the airport at Rio de Janeiro for a short flight to Florianopolis.
Day 8: Florianopolis City Tour
After breakfast, you will start with a historical tour of the city, visiting the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Public Market, and a local handcrafts market. Lagoa da Conceição will be your next stop. The Lagoon is used for water sports, and its restaurant is famous for its shrimp. You will end your tour at Joaquina Beach, a popular surfing spot.
Day 9: Florianopolis Free Day
Today you have the option to spend the day as you wish, or take an optional guided tour. Popular activities include diving, hang gliding, paragliding, mountain biking, or surfing.
Day 10: Florianopolis Departure
You will take a transfer to the airport, or continue to your next destination.
