Framing Materials
The cost of a bike frame mountain is proportional to its material and the treatment given the material. In Currently, there are five types of material used in mountain bikes - high tensile steel, chrome steel, aluminum, titanium and carbon fiber. large diameters, heat treatment, and splice material tubes are treatments that increase the cost of such a framework.
High strength steel
This is a high strength alloy that is in the lower mountain bikes prices. It offers a high carbon content which makes it less rigid than steel chrome materials most needed to be stiff enough for bicycle frames, which in turn make it much heavier.
Relatively inexpensive to produce, is this material on track bikes, city bikes, mountain bikes and even entry level. There are some bikes come with a tube chrome seat, while the rest is high tensile steel.
Chromoly steel
Abbreviation alloy steel, chrome describes better by its main additives - chromium and molybdenum. This is probably the most sophisticated processing equipment, providing more than 100 years of reliable service.
Depending on the type of heat treatment and headers, you can find this stuff on a bike as low as $ 400 all the way to 1500 and beyond. The steel material Chrome offers very good durability and a distinctive walk.
Aluminum
Over the past 15 years, aluminum has been refined in much the same way as chromoly. There have been developed various alloys and heat treatment, oversizing, and splice. With dual bicycles suspension, aluminum is the preferred material because it is stiffer and more profitable.
Aluminum is more rigid than the chrome, and are therefore break before plating. Of course, this depends on how you drive and how much abuse you give the frame. The advantages of aluminum is that the picture is very light and stiff through very oversized or headers.
Titanium
Even the thought is something exotic, this material prices have fallen in recent years. Marcos titanium remain expensive because it takes longer to weld the tubes to the structure.
Titanium is considered an alloy, usually mixed with small amounts of vanadium and aluminum to give a better weldability and ride characteristics. Rather than comply chrome, and offers better fatigue properties corrosion.
The material you choose for your bike, it all depends on where you ride and what style you use. Most materials will last for years as long as you take care of your bike and treat the frame with a little respect.
