Being an only - the Pros and cons of traveling alone
For some, the idea of the unknown with little more than a backpack and a good book the company may sound like purgatory, but others do not want it any other way. Therefore, you must travel alone or with others?
Both forms have their own merits, but equally, both have their dangers. Having done both, here's my take on the pros and cons of traveling solo, along with tips for success alone.
First, let's get really negative.
The L Word - is sure to vary one person to another, but every solo traveler will experience a single moment or two. Its inevitable. There are ways, however, to address this. During these periods, endeavor for being a little more proactive. If you are in an area exposed to substantial traffic backpacker not book then why a group tour for the day, or sign up for this type of accommodation occupied as a shelter? A quick review of the company may be all that is needed to drive away demons.
If, however, you have a social inclination, particularly fervent, take this into account when planning the trip. You may want to focus more on the backpacker trail provided with unlimited opportunities intercourse er, speech. In addition, while on the road, make it a consideration when choosing accommodation search places that have communal areas to increase the chances of interaction.
Fancy Yankee U.S. dollars - a subject close to heart each camper. Traveling solo means spending more of them. It is common for many places of payment for the room, not the number of people. Single, if at a different rate, generally do not come that much lower than a double. Accommodation-wise, over time makes it more expensive to travel alone if you were to divide the cost of the room with his companion. Its fact that makes me feel cheated, bitter, and generally a grumpy old man - That is probably why I find myself traveling alone in the first. There is sometimes the option to share with others, but if your comfort you want and then the bullet must be bitten. Bah, humbug.
Beast of Burden - Like hand grenades, other things also to share. medical equipment, toiletries, and books are but three examples. But if there is no one to share, you should bring your own.
Safety - is undeniable that traveling alone can lead to a slightly elevated risk greater than traveling with others - but we must keep this in perspective. There will be greater safety in numbers, but for the solo backpacker, additional precautions taken on the road will reduce the risks significantly. For example, if you can avoid not going to go to a new location at night, travel by public transport busy - preferably with other people are familiar with - and try to blend into your environment as much as feasible as possible.
His best friend - You will be joined at the hip (almost literally) to your package. When you go, go. Should not be allowed on the road with his friend while the pop shops for drinks, etc., or while running around a station in search of the cabin from which to buy the nearest bus ticket. planning is necessary. No need to run any round with his package of security for your accommodation - it may mean checking out transportation centers the day before departure, and the purchase of food before out of the guesthouse - but a little preparation prior to denying this "pack handicap 'considerably.
Remember, however, a trip alone is not all gloom. Far from it. In my opinion, embarking on a solo journey has profound positive aspects outweigh the negative few.
Ok, now is the time for good things.
Independence - In the words of Braveheart, Mel Gibson, "They can take Double rooms cheap, but can never take our freedom! "- I was something like that anyway. The freedom that one eventually reaches a solo trip can not be underestimated. Unfettered and free to go anywhere, anytime. Without debate, without compromise. Amen to that.
Making new friends - If is on your own, you'll meet more people. It's as simple as that. A lone traveler is infinitely more accessible than an established group. In addition - from the other side of the fence, as it were - those relating to their own will be much more likely to spark a conversation with others than if you were participating in their own instant area.
Intimidation Game - Not only will you meet many different people, but those who comply will be more willing to open in a situation of one against one. It will help you understand more about the people I meet and places, cultures and customs within their locality. In addition, the local folk may be more inclined to invite a lone traveler to eat with them or even put them in the night. It is much more likely to happen if they were one of many in a herd backpackers.
No hitch couplers - Full bus? That's not a problem. A person with a backpack, almost always you can click on the most small corner in transport. Also, with a little encouragement, transport staff will be generally more likely to allow one more to go if there was at least twice as many people with twice as much baggage. This goes the same for the assembly and all other means of getting from A to B.
Grow - This is the most important. By its very nature, traveling solo also play a key role in its development. Not only have individual travelers more time to reflect and learn more about themselves, but the condition for self-sufficiency, generate great personal confidence as you learn how much they are able to achieve.
The act itself is not for everyone - and it has its disadvantages - but we hope that this drop-down will allow those currently planning a journey to make a more informed decision.
