Mastering Mountain Bike Skills is described as for anyone who wants to ride better, faster and more confidently. It helps you master the skills needed for all of land in almost any situation: cross country, freeride, downhill, dirt jumping, bikercross, urban land, and even skateboard parks.
The book is well organized and the topics flow well. Chapters cover selecting and configuring the bike, balance, sitting position, the pumping of ground for speed, braking, cornering, and jumping horses, falls, jumps, high-speed lines, and racing.
With over 100 color photographs and diagrams of specific maneuvers and adjustments, the authors illustrate the important but often overlooked, the subtleties of technique.
The book attempts to detail the principles for beginners and experts alike, and generally does a great job.
A glossary to help. Authors and publishers often forget that not everyone knows the meaning of the slang words, such as rail and carving. Even if it is explained on first use, a glossary of mountain biking that enhance the book.
I read this book straight through, but one that will want to keep out and refer to often as it rises, develop and practice skills. There are great tips and tricks for people at all levels of skill and experience.
Verdict
This is one of the best books ever published in the acquisition of skills in mountain biking, and contains a wealth of information about mountain biking skills, one of the most skilled riders who all lived. If you are a mountain biker, get this book, if only to see the photos.
