1968 Chevy Camaro disc brake swap Part 1
What better way to get your Muscle Car stop with a set of disc brakes.

Vehicles project this time is a classic Muscle Car: The 1968 Chevy Camaro. While some came through the factory with front disc brakes, our car was originially
become a six-cylinder V8 engine and, unfortunately, a four wheel drum car, but do not let that bother him. its really no big deal.
Spends much dictates how well it Stop!
As much as we preach about not having to spend tons of money in your Muscle Car, the brakes is an area where you can really spend a little dough. But he does
not have to go to see an improvement. As usual, always based on proper planning and research to determine what suits our needs.
Well, better, best?
We chose one of the cheaper discs SSBC brake conversions. The kit comes with everything from drums, shoes, gaskets, bearings and bushings that reaches chrome!
For about $ 1,000, you get all fat and short rear axle seal and oil. The next step we have found is a good set of Wilwood. Then theres Brembo
brakes. Big money, big stopping power. In general, higher power cars. This configuration was not for our budget, but nevertheless is quite sweet.
Let's start
As always, the car safely jacked and use of security is ... forever!. With the front wheels, front brake disassembly is easy. Remove the bearing cap, remove
key, unscrew the nut and the drum major exits. Undo the brake line from wheel cylinder, then remove the steering axle. At this point,
care must be much as it is necessary to remove the shaft of arms control. A cat was used to remove the spring pressure as
every bolt. However bolt making descended to release tension, and bang, all separation. It's that easy!
The careful preparation Front
We need reuse steering arm of the old battery up, so they cleaned, painted them and install them in our
new brake spindles. Replace the lines in reverse order of prohibition. With axes, now you can pack your bearings,
install seals, and bolt in its rotor. Now, install clamp bracket on the axle and place the new clip to the bracket. You
will also have to change their flexible hydraulic line to adapt to the new tool. And that's all it is!
