Shimano Bike
How many bikes do I need?
Cycling is his passion. You have reached the point where you want to reach the next level in cycling, and can afford the same professional team that the first use. How many bikes do you need and what should you get? When we look at the benefits that could get what they want, we find that using a small number of bikes with different roles. Here are the papers I think that works best for them, and then apply this model to Cyclists who want the best:
1. Road bike with the potentiometer.
This is the main "every day" cycling. Almost all the top racing cyclists and a growing number of recreational riders active power meters. I recommend either an SRM or PowerTap to complement a rugged road bike. I can specify the chassis rigid and comfortable with Campagnolo Record and Chorus components (unless the customer insists on Shimano, but that's another story!), and a set of light but strong wheel, such as race or Spinergy Xero Reynolds High Lite. I can develop the way "fit" model to work around this bike, since most of the time will be spent on it to improve form and technique. The triathletes also spend most of their time on this bike, learning quick ride and improved handling skills for riding safely in the groups with the fastest drivers.
2. Road bike light for climbing, bicycle parts bicycle when the primary is in maintenance, and for "mental health" walks.
The bike is a climbing very efficient, light machine that has a geometry similar to the primary bike, but lighter components and not Powermeter. When training with power, is easy focus on the number and lose much of the sensory input we receive from a "pure bike ride." I like to report that a motorcycle is no more than minimal equipment, Garmin Edge, or even nothing at all, so one can feel for the race, or a ride in for the sake of riding. Many times the bike comes to light Recovery rides for fun group rides, and aggressive group rides in the hills. I also think that many people like to put more exotic components climbing on the bikes, which have less wear and may have a "sensitive" components.
3. Time trial bike.
This bike is only necessary for triathletes, and for people who want to test of time. I do not recommend this as the "only" bike, like riding a time trial bike in groups of fasting is strongly discouraged. These bikes do not handle well, and if you're in the aero bars, can not safely take part in one step. Team time trials are different, of course, and training for them can and should be done with this bike. I think if you can go fast direct and easy on a road bike, that the transition to cycling time trial is easy, and can be done safely and effectively.
4. Travel case or travel by bicycle.
There are pros and cons of each. It is nice to travel and travel. Using a case allows one to use your bike and go at any place. Using a break-apart bikes, one can have a titanium copy "of your custom road bike, in a durable format with a small travel bag is under the greatest airline. This is great for international travel and for situations where a case of great size is not possible due to small cars, etc.
5. track bike with a road fork and a front brake.
This is definitely not for everyone, but it is a tremendous training tool. One can get an incredible workout in a short period of time and management skills may develop hyper bike with a motorcycle like this.
In summary, I think a guy who wants to "do well", can benefit greatly from a few big bikes with the following parameters:
- A fully defined precision laser assembly.
- A plan for education and information to specify the framework and components. These bikes last a long time, so planning maximizes the benefit here and make the most profitable investment.
- A plan for improving the skills of riding, training, and targets for improvement in these tools can be used to enhance the lifestyle of the biker.
- I still was heard saying that the team garage in Indy 500: "The best we can get is barely enough!"
