The catch of striped The Surf

One of the most intriguing aspects of surf fishing is the fact that you never know what will capture.

"GO-GO-GO!" I do not know if I'm talking with my cane or fish or feet, but every time I say that word, my voice becomes stronger and move my feet more fast. While I see the tip of the rod bending toward the horizon, I find it hard to contain my enthusiasm. Why do you always get the best bait farther bar in my beach chair?

As approaches, the staff is still bent and the reel drag is now "singing." I know this is a good sound indicator of a big fish because I tend to keep my drag set very tight. This also ensures that the circle hook set properly. I pull my rod out of the tip sand and feel the tension against me I have really pulling confirms hooked into something powerful.

About fifteen seconds later, the fish slowed down and carefully pulling the cane to get a "feel" of how the struggles of animals. It is definitely heavy on the move, but does not fight like everything he had never felt before.

After fighting a few fish, a fisherman learns to distinguish one fish from another by comparing the strength, speed, direction and vibration in the line. Now, if you ever find yourself struggling against another rod, note that business can be difficult! Do your best to set aside all preconceived expectations, and only the winding.

While I see the bottom of the bar several times the surface and submerge, even considering what is causing this. After all, my sinker and Reel should add weight to the hair, causing it to drag along the bottom of the ocean. I'm still surprised by the weight of this rod, but I can put it in close enough that grasp the handle and ensure a firm grip. Without looking, I reach for the handle of the coil, try to make the first turn, and coil is not moving. I soon realize the reel gears are filled with sand.

I begin to feel the tension building up inside of me like a fish puts more stress on the line. Realizing that there is nothing I can do at this point, but wait and wait, I can scan the water hoping for a glimpse of the creature that I am fighting. As the line snaps, I see a big brown stripe break the surface water about thirty yards in front of me. I'm exhausted, still a little dazed, but very pleased.

With the increase of the surf water temperature, are many unique species of rays in the surf, both large and small. They feed mainly on crustaceans and small fish, but would not hesitate to bite a piece of bait cool.

For many new anglers, making the distinction between a shoe and a small scratch can be confusing. The Skate will commonly Clearnose small barbed spines that cover the entire upper body, including the tail. While small spikes can cut you and cause a stinging sensation (similar to a bee sting), is not considered very dangerous.

The line of the south is similar in size, but the upper body is soft. At the base of the tail long and thin Ray will be a very dangerous sting used for defense against predators. This spike is easily confused with the tail and is covered with a black, viscous protein-based toxin. All stripes caught in the tide of Delmarva vary in size and have different characteristics, and almost all will have this toxic barb.

I've been called many stripes in recent years and have learned many valuable lessons, one of them put me in the hospital and left me a scar on the wrist. While lightning can be fun and challenging to the beach, be aware, are being taken out of his element and will do everything possible to defend themselves. I want to make sure I'm clear on the fact that this is the main defense of the line spike of natural predators. Rays are not actively seeking swimmers and try to "sting" of them. The only thing immediately relieves the pain is to immerse the wound in hot water (not to burn yourself of course) or pressing a hot compress against the area of puncture. Then seek immediate medical attention. Even if you think you can handle the pain after the application of hot water, there can be a significant amount of bacteria in the wound, along with broken parts, toothed tongue.

Stripes can be very powerful creatures and when one of the biggest grabs your bait, you better have knots and a strong back stronger! Of course, set your drag correctly and have a strong beak, deep sand will help keep your bookmarks in the bar beach. Although, I can always use another!
