Volvo EBS Banks in for increasing the braking functions

To increase road safety, Volvo is including extra functions in its range of cars basis for its trucks. These functions are delivered by EBS (Electronically controlled Brake System) for the European market for Volvo.

If a customer selects a truck with EBS as a basis, the increase in braking functions are included at no additional cost. Additional features include Hill Start Aid, which prevents the truck to roll backwards when starting on an uphill slope. Another valuable function is the wheel brake monitoring, which alerts the driver if the brake force on a wheel fall unexpectedly.

Volvo selected trucks and cars are now equipped with the latest generation EBS and disc brakes ventilated. These vehicles provide many safety and convenience to improve the functions of one-of-a kind of touch unit. sophisticated disc brakes coupled with standard system EBS ensures rapid response and shorter braking distances possible.

Lars-Göran Löwenadler, safety director at Volvo Trucks, said, "We are now providing our customers with an extremely high level of security as standard, regardless of the type of truck that order. This is fully in line with our determination continuing to increase the safety of drivers and other road users alike. "

EBS is available in three levels: standard EBS, EBS + (Middle) and High EBS. The standard package is included as before in the basic version. At the middle level, all functions are now enhanced with increased capabilities at no additional cost. This means that the base version has been updated with six additional functions, both for rigid trucks and semi-trailers.

The EBS + system includes the Hill Hold function additional security. It prevents the vehicle from rolling backward when starting on an incline. This is done by holding the vehicle in the service brakes until sufficient torque is distributed. The system includes traction control, continuous control of the conditions of brake pads and temperature.

EBS is discharged all the features EBS + and the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). The system is easily activated when the vehicle shows no tendency to lose contact with the road surface. ESP is available for Volvo FE solo drive.

EBS adjusts the driving conditions. It is equipped with a series of valves and sensors to regulate and control the braking system. The range of additional basic functions include Hill Start Aid, Panic Brake Assistance, monitoring wheel brake linings Analysis wear, drag torque control and differential lock control.

Additional functions of braking the car manufacturer can also expect in the Volvo XC90 truck vintage car parts and other Volvo vehicles.
