Tibet is located in southeastern China. Arguably the most adventurous trip a mountain biker can do is cycling along the Himalayas from Lhasa to Zhangmu.

1. Lhasa
Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region has an area of the prefecture 30,000 square kilometers and its Tibetan name means "Land of the Gods." Located on the north bank of Lhasa River, a tributary of the Yarlung River Tsangbo, at an altitude of 3,700 meters. Has a history of more than 13 centuries. With more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, Lhasa is known as "Sun City." It is the center of Tibet's political life, economic activities, cultural and religious. There are many famous historical sites and relics of the city proper and its suburbs, among which the Potala Palace , Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and Ganden Monastery are world famous.
2. Gyantze
Gyantze (also Tsedang or Tsethang) is a small city located 183 kilometers southeast of Lhasa in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Gyantze was the capital of the Yarlung and, as such, a place of great importance. In the 19th century is said to have contained about 1,000 houses, a bazaar, a gompa and a fortress. Now is the capital of Shannan Prefecture and the second largest city in the region.
It lies at an altitude of 3,100 meters and has a population of about 52,000. It is only about 4 km northeast of the city of Nêdong but they have now merged, basically, in a city. Located near the slopes of Mount Gongbori and is home to the ruins of the ancient Monastery Gajiu. It is known as the cradle of Tibetan civilization. Samye, Tibet's first monastery, is 30 km from Tsedang and was founded in 779 AD by King Trisong Detsen.
3. Shigatse
Shigatse, Tibet's second city has had a important in Tibetan history. Mount Everest North Base Camp is in Tingri County, Shigatse Prefecture at an altitude of 5200 meters.
Located in the floodplain at the confluence of the river Brahmaputra and Nianchu, Shigatse is 273 kilometers west of Lhasa. At an altitude of 3,800 meters, with an area of 3875 km ² and a population 820,000 inhabitants, is the second largest city in Tibet. It is an ancient city with a history of 600 years. It is named in Shigatse Tibetan and Chinese Rigaze that originally meant "a manor house of the most fertile soils.
4. Dingri
Dingri (also Tsedang or Tsethang) is a small city located 183 kilometers southeast of Lhasa in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Dingri was the capital of the Yarlung and, as such, a place of great importance. Century 19 is said to have contained about 1,000 houses, a bazaar, a gompa and strong.
