The eyes of the law, is a headband torch an acceptable alternative to a bicycle front light?

I know I have to show a solid white light on front and a solid red one in the back while driving on the road at night. Now, I'll be breaking the law if I was to replace the front light solid white headband with a torch? You know the type of lamp that is attached to an elastic band. Technically it is not installed on the bike, but just as brilliant, and has the added advantage that it does not need the bike to go directly to a Hazzard to view. It also has the advantage that if I get off my bike to investigate something or to perform a rapid implementation service, I can still see what I'm doing. When I am legally in this?

I fear that my friends learned here is made the law says must be attached. Why not use both though? An LCD front light legal support you without getting in your way or cost much to run, and a light headband would give all the advantages of which you speak.
