Rust on piston head? Respected engineers Please help!?
I recently spent a lot of money in rebuilding 150cc sport motorcycle gasoline engine of my service in the showroom the procurement and use of all the original components. The bike is working everything right, but not getting much power. The vibrating motor above 4000rpm. But recently, while I opened the spark plug to check if the mixture is working too lean, I looked out the spark plug hole with a white LED torch and found the piston head is yellow (gas flush) with many scars reddish brown on the head of the piston. Are oxide or something else? Am I cheating? Can I have an old piston? They took up to 9,000 rupees in the reconstruction the engine with a new piston, cylinder head gasket and crankshaft. Also please tell me which direction (clockwise or anti-left) I'll turn The carburetor fuel screw constant volume (CVC) to make the fuel / air mixture richer in fuel? Are there any problems with the engine if I stay the bike with a rich mixture of fuel? Please advise.
I have seen pistons of all colors, so do not worry about the piston. Judge air-fuel mixture by looking at the ceramic of the spark plug in place. After some use long distance, if the mixture is adequate porcelain white or tan or light brown. A lot will depend on what impurities or additives has its fuel. If Snow White is probably running in the lean and if it is white with small blisters, then you are running a lot leaner and definitely has to be adjusted to prevent engine damage. If black or black and soot, then it is too rich. Note note that it is difficult to judge color when you have lots of cold starts to drown. The best thing to do is get a new spark plug, glue and a key in your pocket, take the bike out and do it hot and then put the new plug in. Run it in good ways and take a look at the plug. That will give you a sense more real than how it is working. Oh, beware of anyone who has an immediate response with a set in stone diagnosis. Sometimes it will be correct, But something like your question requires some checks to do before knowing what is actually happening. Only then can you get repair recommendation.
