Self-protection against strange dogs
Have you ever been riding your bike around the block when a dog runs off your yard and start chasing you down the street? Perhaps you
walking down the street when you see a rather large dog a few houses away.
The dog seems to be neglected and do not know if it is friendly. Has this ever happened to you? Your walking your small dog (leash) down the street when suddenly his face a strange dog, free roaming and growling and attacking position.
What do you do? What can you do?
In the first scenario, described above, where the rider being chased by a dog, probably begins to pedal faster at the same time kicking the dog in a bid to ditch both the dog and avoid being bitten.
The second scenario was walking down the street when you see a big dog, without attention to a few homes. Many people will walk carrying a baseball bat or a big stick to protect themselves in case the dog gets to be, say, unfriendly. First, take a baseball bat or a big stick can be cumbersome and get stronger after a while.
Second, you must be prepared to beat the dog (not an easy thing to do). Imagine how you will feel afterwards. So, instead, is likely to just turn around and walk backwards instead of taking a
opportunity.
The latter scenario as described above, has to walk your small dog on a leash, when facing a larger, unfamiliar dog. Most likely they will pick up your beloved pet, keep close to you and then just hope for the best. Trying
away rarely works.
Let's look at some other options. One is to keep the dog to come near you, in the first place. You can accomplish this with an electronic animal repellent. Using ultrasound technology, the legacy of a sound uncomfortable, but not harmful high frequency, audible to dogs but not humans.
One of them is the Ultrasonic Dog Chaser. It is small and lightweight. It measures 3 and 3 / 4 inches by 2 inches and 3 / 16 7 / 8 inches. That's more or less the size of a deck of cards. Weighing just 3.5 ounces with the 9 volt battery, is quite compact. It has a frequency range between 20,000 Hz - 25,000 Hz 135dbs, which has an effective range of up to 20 feet.
The device is easy to use, too. Point the animal repellent in the dog and press the button. That's all there is to do. It is also safe and humane. The electronic animal repellent is not repellent of choice however, if your walking your dog.
A second option is to whip out your trusty dog repellent spray. Mace spray makes a strong, human dog and effective repellent that is approved by the EPA. It sprays 8-10 feet, but not spray it in the wind like the results could be disastrous. That's how it works.
When sprayed with pepper spray dog repellent
spray, most dogs are thrown on the floor rubbing his eyes. The effects burning pain spray usually disappears after a few minutes, leaving the dog unharmed.
Choose dog repellent sprays pepper spray, also known as OC (Oleoresin capsicum) spray, as its ingredient. Other sprays may not work on dogs that do not respond to pain. It is completely non-toxic.
Another option is The stun baton. A favorite among security guards, it is very effective in dogs. Just touch the dog in the face. It will drop to his knees, turn and run. Normally, however, the clicking sounds when doing the relay
