Mountain Bike Chainring
Would this stop my trousers getting caught on my mountain bike?
My brand spanking new specialized hardrock doesn't have a chainring protector (which I know from experience would stop my trousers from being chewed up), I don't want to wear trouser clips and don't often wear shorts, so im thinking of getting one of these:

1. Would this fit my hardrock/ is it simple to install (I wont have to remove my largest chainring, correct?)
2. Is it a piece of crap which will probably just weigh down the bike and mess up the crankset?
3. Wtf is an alloy nut?

If you have a Spec. Hardrock then get something to compliment this bike at least. See here: http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/13368-075_BLARR4-3-Parts-52-Chainrings/Bashguards/Blackspire-Big-Ring-Protector-Bashguard.htm that other "thing" you gave a link to has a bolt on it that WILL rust on you, that is what Alloy ultimately means and it will not protect your large ring from damage if you hit it on something! This Blackspire ring will work for a 44 tooth ring which I am certain you have and will bolt to the outside of the ring and keep your pants out of the ring teeth too! I guarantee this I use one too! Costs a bit more but well worth the money and you can order from over there in the UK too.
