Mountain Bikes and horses through small roads?
I ride a bicycle through the woods and more rural roads. When there are horses in front of me 1 out of 3 Freek out over the sound of a branch snaping. Is it safer to make noise before passing horses so it dosnt knock me off my bike? Why Freek horses do so easily? Is it likly that a horse could see me if I lie down?
Remember that a horse is a prey animal, meaning they were way back on the menu for predators. With this in mind, the bike is very quiet when traveling then suddenly appears behind or beside the horse ... the horse, of course, are baffled by this sudden appearance of the puma "on wheels." It is instinct that is activated in a moments notice, reactions, with thought out, if you are in the firing line or even near the line of fire, you could get hurt. For your safety, I suggest that as soon as you see the horse in front of you and you know you are within walking distance to the hearing of the horse and rider, who knows you are in that area. Once the horse you listens to you, and the rider talking like "Hey There" I can "pass" or "good horse, he agrees with bikes" The pilot can say "just a sec and I'll find a place where I can download the track" or "safe if it passes to the left I'll make sure he is okay" or something style .... The horse recognizes human voices and cordial, and normally, the pilot to turn to face to talk cycling and horse can see things. If the horse seems uncomfortable, talk to the horse ... "Your child may, it is fair to me," without doubt, settle down. The worst thing you can do is say nothing and sneaking behind the "ignorant" on horseback. Hope this helps
