one piece crank is better than a Part 2 of 3 (bicycles)?
2-PC Cranks developed as a complement to the new bottom brackets who went with the goal of being more durable bearings spaced farther apart than was possible with cartridge bottom bracket axle and the level of BB framework. So far, the new bottom brackets (called "external view") seem to last longer, by what appears to be a good thing. Everything depends on the type of riding you do, however. Some cartridge BB spindles are better than others, and occasional cyclists often use them too quickly. If that is the case, then there really is no difference significant between 2-PC-PC and style 3. There is a bit of weight savings when you go with a pc-crank 2, but not enough to really matter. One thing I like about the outside bottom brackets/2-pc handle newer systems is that there is less waste when you need to replace the bottom bracket. A pair of bearings is all that is needed unless damage to other parts ..... with the old system of 3-pc, you need to replace the bottom bracket spindle together with the shell, etc, because they are not repairable. That makes the environment environment more sense to me. Beyond these points, there really is no better or more valuable in the rods and plates in a 2-pc in a 3-pc.
