Speed Road Bike
Cyclists: My road bike is a speed of 9, but going uphill is impossible!?
My road bike has two front teeth, 9 back. The guy from the bike shop said my bike is pretty good and that a set of 9 speed is pretty standard. But today I went for a walk in some places 20 km long stretches upward. Using my "easier" gear, in front of a small piece larger on the back, but I was suffering trying compensate for these hills. Comparison of this mountain bike riding a 21 speed bike when I was a child, the best gear on this road bike it feels so hard, and is there any way I could do this bike uphill. Do you have any idea about this? Am I a coward for not being able to mount a standard speed road bike into the hills in September? Please advise, thanks!
Since you asked, yes, you're a coward. There is only one way to get better to go uphill, and is to continue to do so. Over time you'll get better. Just remember that alternate with hard work up some high rpm speed well on the floors. Another good idea is to use the same team coming down the hill that used to rise. Do not just coast, spin her out a **. You will never be good if you are not willing to suffer.
